| Sociological Inquiry was introduced into the major to serve as a bridge between the introductory courses and more advanced courses in sociology. The course will explore the nature of the discipline, discuss the role sociology plays in the larger society, consider the predominant theories and methods used in the field, develop skills that will need for a successful academic career as a sociology major. | ||

| 현대사회의 다양한 사회현상을 설명하기 위해서는 저출산·고령화 등 인구변동에 대한 이해가 필수적이다. 이 과목은 사회인구학 입문과정으로서 인구학의 주요 개념과 지표들을 탐색하고, 출산, 사망, 인구이동을 통한 인구변동의 원인과 결과를 논의한다. | ||
| This course provides an overview of social demography. This course explores the key concepts and measures of demography and discusses the causes and consequences of population change through the population processes of fertility, mortality, and migration. | ||

| 이 과목은 일상의 관계가 권력의 작동과 밀접히 연관되어 있는 것을 전제로, 사회적 관계 속에 배태되어 작동하는 권력현상을 이해하는 것을 목표로 한다. 한 학기 동안 진행되는 수업에서는 거시적 정치조직, 정치변동 뿐 아니라 생활세계에서의 정치권력 및 정치현상까지 폭넓게 다루어진다. 정치사회학의 기본 개념, 사고, 논리 전개를 바탕으로 정치권력의 형성과 변동에 대한 거시적이고 역사적인 이해와 함께, 일상에서의 권력관계와 사회운동을 통해 정치변동을 조사, 분석함으로써 일상생활에 대한 정치사회학적 해석과 이해의 확대를 시도한다. | ||
| This subject aims to understand the power phenomenon in which everyday relationships are embedded and operated in social relationships, assuming that they are closely related to the operation of power. The class, which runs for a semester, covers not only macro-political organiztions and political changes but also political power and political phenomena in the living world. Based on the basic concepts, thoughts and logic development of political sociology, along with macro and historical understanding of the formation and variation of political power, attempt to expand political and sociological interpretation and understanding of daily life by investigating and analyzing the political changes through the power relations and social movements in daily life. | ||

| Information and communication technologies influences contemporary societies by forming the infrastructures and media through which people interacts with others. This course introduces the field of science and technology studies. By engaging with theoretical frameworks and empirical studies, students will understand how technology and society influence each other and how technology changes our daily interactions. | ||

| 이 과목은 급격한 도시화로 인해 변화된 한국의 지역사회를 도시사회에 대한 이론과 공동체에 대한 논의를 통해 이해하는 것을 목표로 한다. 수업을 통해서는 특정 장소를 중심으로 형성되는 지역사회가 거시적이고 구조적인 환경변화 속에서 어떻게 변화하고, 작동하며, 재탄생되고 있는가를 살펴본다. 이는 사람이 모여 형성된 사회와 물질적 공간이 어떻게 상호작용하며 사회질서와 변동을 만들어내고 있는가를 탐구하는 것이다. 도시로서의 지역사회와 공동체로서의 지역사회에 대한 이론적 이해와 함께, 지역사회 내부의 갈등, 불평등 및 지역사회의 변화 등 폭넓은 주제들이 수업을 통해 다루어진다. | ||
| This subject aims to understand Korean communities transformed by rapid urbanization through discussions on theories and communities about urban society. Through classes, we look at how communities that are formed around certain places are changing, working and recreating in macro- and structural changes in the environment. It explores how the social and material spaces formed by people interact and create social order and variation. Along with the theoretical understanding of local societies as both cities and communities, a wide range of topic are covered through classes, including conflicts within communities, inequality and changes in communities. | ||

| 젠더 사회학은 우리 사회에서 젠더가 어떻게 구성되고, 경험되고, 강제되고, 유지되는지를 다룬다. 우리 사회에서 젠더불평등이 어떻게 작용하는지 다양한 수준에서 검토하고, 분업, 권력, 계급, 성, 장애, 연령 등 다른 불평등 기제와 어떻게 중첩되는지를 이해한다. | ||
| Sociology of Gender critically examines the ways gender is constructed, experienced, enforced, and maintained for both women and men. Through this course, students will understand how gender inequality operates at multiple levels in our society and intersects with other bases of inequality, such as the division of labor, power, class, sexuality, disability, age, etc. | ||

| 사회조사의 유용성과 문제점에 대한 균형 잡힌 감각을 함양하고 사회조사를 하는데 요구되는 여러 사항들에 대한 지식을 배운다. 이는 연구 질문, 가설설정, 표본추출, 측정도구작성 등으로 구분되며 각 단계별 고려사항을 이해한다. 또한 기존의 논문들에 대한 비판적 독해를 통해 사회조사를 이용한 논문의 글쓰기 기초를 배운다. | ||

| The course examines major trend of cultural studies. Since the early 1970s, the sociology of culture has been virtually “reinvented”. The course is concerned with the “new” sociology of culture which is not a field per se; rather it consists of a number of distinct and independent subfields such as science, knowledge, religion, media, popular culture, and the arts as well as culturally oriented approaches to, for example, history, politics, organization, stratification, and interpersonal behavior. | ||

| The influx of migrant workers, marriage migrants, internatonal students, and North Korean refugees is transforming South Korea into a multicultural society. This course introduces the key concepts and theories of immigration policy including assimilation and multiculturalism. Students will explore the historical and social contexts, issues, and policies related to multicultural society and eventually understand the realities of how Korean society reacts to cultural and ethnic diversity. | ||

| Sociological theories try to render the social world understandable. This course studies the theoretical traditions of sociology. Attention will be given to the writings of Durkheim, Weber, Marx, Mead, etc. and how their theories have given rise to the major theoretical perspectives in sociology, such as functionalism, conflict theory and symbolic interactionism. | ||

| This course presents a general introduction to social stratification theory and research. As such, the aim is for extensive coverage of the field rather than intensive treatment of a few selected topics. The major areas of consideration include : ⑴ definition and measurement of social class; ⑵ social stratification in Korean society ; ⑶ study of power structures; ⑷ class differences in life styles and life chances; and ⑸ social mobility. | ||

| In this course, students learn the basic tools in statistical inference, such as, hypothesis test and central limit theorem, and understand several statistical techniques, such as, analysis of variance, t-test, and regression analysis through practical exercises. | ||

| In this course, students are expected to develop their own idea about the meaning of social change. For this purpose, theories about technology and social movement are studied in relation to social changes, and issues about information society are discussed as an example of current social change and development. | ||

| The course examines comparative methods in analyzing social structures and the contributions of major sociological schools. Focusing on modes of production and systems of domination, it briefly reviews the key similarities and differences between societies. | ||

| 본 강좌는 사회연결망 연구의 기본적인 이론, 자료수집 및 분석기법들, 그리고 연결망적 개념을 활용하고 있는 연구사례들을 소개한다. 특히 연결망 내 행위자들 간의 관계구조를 파악하고, 이 구조가 각 행위자의 행위에 어떤 영향을 미치는지에 초점을 둔다. 또한 최근 동향이라 할 수 있는 사회연결망에 대한 자연과학적 접근 역시 논의된다. | ||
| This course introduces students to social network theories, data collection and analytic methods, and research utilizing them. Special focus is placed on network structures that emerge from interacting actors and the effects that network structures have on actors' behavior. | Understanding family change and family diversity is essential for explaining fertility change. This course discusses topics related to the family and fertility dynamics. Students will learn how to analyze and interpret family issues using relevant concepts and theories. | 한국사회의 구체적 이슈들을 선정하여 연구설계에서 자료수집과 분석까지 실제적인 연구경험을 쌓는다. 1) 기존의 사회학적 접근들을 사용하여 이론적 가설들을 도출하고, 2) 이를 검증하기 위하여 다양한 양적, 질적 방법들을 사용하여 학생 스스로 자료를 수집·분석하고, 3) 이 결과를 바탕으로 사회학적 분석을 포함한 연구보고서를 작성한다. | ||
